Demolition

Services cover the full range of projects including industrial, commercial, residential, partial strip-outs. Works are done across all locations in Western Australia. We hold a Class 1 demolition licence.

Asbestos Removal

Includes friable and bonded asbestos removal. We hold a restricted asbestos removal licence and have approved subcontractors for friable asbestos removal. We carry out asbestos removal works including roofing, walls, internal, fencing and emu picking.

Hazardous Materials Removal

Services cover SMF, lead, PCB’s, refrigerants and hazardous materials such as creosote and chemicals among other things. We identify, test, collect and dispose of hazardous materials from Class 1 to Class 5.

DEMOLITION & ASBESTOS REMOVAL - CASE STUDIES

UWA Chemistry Centre

Project Brief: Demolish 3 storey chemistry centre including extensive sprayed asbestos removal from service tunnels and leave a clean and level site.

Challenges: Works carried out in a live university environment including working around exams and significant number of public in the immediate vicinity.

Outcome: Project completed no incidents, no impact on student exams and site left clean and level on time and on budget.

Austral Bricks, Cardup

Project Brief: This was a 2 stage project. Stage 1 involved the removal of 2,000m2 of asbestos roof and the installation of a new tin roof. MCG removed all internal plant to the no 1 brick plant so the area could be used for storage. Plant included 2 x kilns, conveyors, bagging machinery and rail carts.
Stage 2 involved the removal of overhead conveyors and storage bins that were supporting the operations of brick plant no 1.

Challenges: Stage 2 works involved cutting and felling the plant while the immediately adjacent brick plant no 2 was fully operational.

Outcome: All works completed without incident, on time and on budget.

Austral Bricks (plant 1), Armadale

Project Brief: Demolition and asbestos removal of former no 1 plant. Works include removal of approximately 26,000m2 of asbestos roof and wall sheeting and demolition and removal of 13,000m2 of building structure and numerous associated structures including a 30m steel stack.

Challenges: These works were carried out within a fully operating site including public access to the site.

Outcome: The contract was completed on time and budget with no safety incidents or adverse impacts on works or public.

Balcatta, fire-damaged warehouse

Project Brief: Demolish a badly fire-damaged warehouse consisting of 2 levels of concrete tilt up panels, remove hazardous materials from the storage of pool chemicals in the warehouse. Panels to remaining section of business were propped.

Challenges: The concrete tilt up panel connections had been badly damaged requiring core drilling for new holes to lift the panels down over adjacent businesses. Steel roof structure was significantly damaged and twisted.

Outcome: All panels were removed without incident and hazardous materials removed safely.

Former Fuel Depot (Narrogin)

Project Brief: Demolition and removal of all site infrastructure including above and below ground tanks, office, large storage facility with asbestos roof. Protection of groundwater monitoring bores was required throughout the project. MCG was involved in the remediation of the site working with the environmental consultant.

Challenges: Remote location with limited services.

Outcome: Project completed on time and budget with no incidents.

1915 Albany Highway, Maddington

Project Brief: Demolition and removal of a commercial showroom with a metal framed storage area to the rear and a hairdressing salon adjacent, demolish and remove all outbuildings and concrete hardstand across the site and leave clear.

Challenges: Works were carried out while surrounding businesses were fully operational with little or no interruption.

Outcome: Project completed on time and budget with no incidents.
