Detailed Project Description:

MCG were contracted by DPLH to be the principal contractor for the remediation of a substantial portion of the Northampton townsite across 139 properties of lead tailings impacts.

The works involved the following;

  • Collection and removal of lead tailings from 139 townsite properties and reinstatement of the properties
  • Containment of lead tailings where required under structures
  • Construction of a 23,000m3 capacity Temporary Storage Facilities (TSF) at the Wheal Ellen minesite
  • Placement and capping of approximately 18,000m3 of lead tailings in the TSF
